Fly Fishing/Accommodations


Imagine having a trophy lake all to yourself. Well now you don’t have to. Here at Ruddocks Ranch we can offer you excellent trout fly fishing with the privacy and solitude you seek to fully enjoy your experience.

At our private 50 acre lake, Ruddocks Dam, also known as Onion Lake, we now offer exclusive use by discriminating fly anglers. These are all wild trout, managed for a trophy fishery. No head shaking planted fish here! Reel screaming runs and airborne leaps are the norm. These rainbow trout can run upwards of 10 pounds! Our best fish of ’08 was a shade under 12lbs on a dry sedge. The number of anglers on the lake is kept to a minimum to ensure your maximum enjoyment. We can accommodate single anglers, groups or company get aways. For larger groups arrangements can be made for exclusive use of the lake.

Coming soon will be rustic lodging at the lake in the form of a 14x16 Outfitter tent. For those who prefer more “home style” accommodations we also offer the Ranch House as a headquarters. Details; Sleeps 8-10, Fully furnished, Huge kitchen, BBQ and relax after a good days fishing in the Hot tub.

The ranch house is great for just getting away from it all as well. We also cater to groups who just want and need peace and solitude for a retreat. With wildlife viewing and spectacular views right from the wrap around porch, some opt to stay all day. Alternate accommodations can be discussed

Time to lake from Vancouver Approx.3 hours. Lake is 27km from Lytton. 9km on gravel. Ranch house is 18 km from lake. Excellent Traveler Sedge hatch. As well as all the usual trout food sources.
